Pensavo a come cominciare questo post… ho scritto “sono un ingegnere bla bla bla…”, poi ho cancellato perchè ho pensato: sono una mamma, una moglie, una donna, faccio l’ingegnere… poi ci ho ripensato ed ho deciso: sono un ingegnere ambientale, con master in ambiente. I was thinking about how to start this post… I wrote “I’m an engineer bla bla bla…”, then I deleted it because I thought: I’m a mother, a wife, a woman, I work as engineer… then I changed my mind and I decided: I am an environmental engineer, with a master degree in environment.
In conclusione, faccio l’ingegnere, sono un ingegnere ambientale. La differenza la fa la parola “ambientale” perchè ho sempre creduto nella tutela dell’ambiente, nella sostenibilità, nelle energie rinnovabili (che costituiscono ormai da tanti anni il 99% del mio lavoro). Sono stata prima una studentessa entusiasta nello studiare questi argomenti, poi una neolaureata alla ricerca di lavoro in questo campo, poi una stagista in grandi aziende, poi una professionista freelance ed infine sono diventata una mamma attenta non solo all’ambiente ma anche alla sostenibilità ed alla qualità dei capi che acquisto per Sissi, oltre alla mia passione per la cucina che si indirizza sempre di più verso il bio. In conclusion, I work as engineer, I’m an environmental engineer. The difference is the word “environmental” because I’ve always believed in protecting the environment, in sustainability, in renewable energy (which are 99% of my work from so many years). I was first a student excited about studying these subjects, then a recent graduate looking for work in this field, then an intern in large companies, then a professional freelance and finally I became a mom attentive not only to the environment but also to the sustainability and the quality of the clothes I buy for Sissi, in addition to my passion for cooking that is directed more and more towards the organic food.
Domani è San Valentino, ma è anche la giornata dedicata alla campagna di sensibilizzazione radiofonica sul Risparmio Energetico e sulla razionalizzazione dei consumi, lanciata da Caterpillar, Rai Radio2 “M’ILLUMINO DI MENO”. La manifestazione giunge quest’anno alla decima edizione: dopo aver spento i più noti monumenti delle città italiane ed europee nelle passate edizioni, si invitano tutti ad un silenzio energetico simbolico. Tra i luoghi e i monumenti più importanti rimasti al buio nelle edizioni passate: il Duomo di Milano, il Colosseo, l’Arena di Verona, Piazza San Marco a Venezia, numerose altre piazze italiane, le luci della Torre Eiffel a Parigi, della Custom House a Dublino e del Foreign Office a Londra. Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, but it is also the day dedicated to awareness-raising campaign on Energy Saving and on rationalization of consumption, launched by Caterpillar, RAI Radio2 “I will use less light”. The event this year reaches its tenth edition: after turning off the most famous monuments of the Italian and European cities in past editions, they invite everyone to a symbolic energy silence. Among the most important monuments and places remained in the dark in the past editions: the Duomo in Milan, the Colosseum, the Arena of Verona, Piazza San Marco in Venice, many other Italian cities, the lights of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Custom House in Dublin and the Foreign Office in London.
Domani, dalle 18 alle 19,30, durante la trasmissione su Rai Radio2, si esortano istituzioni, amministrazioni ed enti pubblici, privati cittadini, scuole, negozi, aziende, associazioni culturali, a rendere visibile la propria attenzione al tema della sostenibilità spegnendo piazze, vetrine, uffici, aule e case, e magari ad accendere luci “pulite” facendo ricorso a fonti rinnovabili e sistemi intelligenti di illuminazione. Dato che è S.Valentino, in molte città bar e ristoranti propongono aperitivi e cene a lume di candela (io penso di organizzare qualcosa di speciale per noi tre in casa, ovviamente sempre a lume di candela!). Per il decennale, Caterpillar ha invitato in particolar modo i musei a spegnere brevemente le luci su un proprio capolavoro, magari illuminandolo a Led o con altre tecniche intelligenti ed alternative, per sottolineare il legame tra cultura e sostenibilità ambientale, fondamentale per contribuire a cambiare lo stile di vita dei cittadini e per trovare, tramite il risparmio energetico, nuove risorse economiche. For this 10th edition, Caterpillar has invited especially museums briefly turning off the lights on a masterpiece, perhaps illuminating it with LED or other intelligent and alternatives techniques, to emphasize the link between culture and environmental sustainability, important in helping to change the style of life of citizens and to find, by means of energy conservation, new sources of income.
La campagna ha ottenuto, come nelle precedenti edizioni, l’Alto Patronato della Presidenza della Repubblica e il Patrocinio del Parlamento Europeo. The campaign has achieved, as in previous editions, the High Patronage of the President of the Republic and the patronage of the European Parliament.
Ecco il DECALOGO DI M’ILLUMINO DI MENO (vale domani, ma anche gli altri giorni 😉 ): Here the Decalogue (that is for tomorrow, but it’s also valid on the other days 😉 ):
1. spegnere le luci quando non servono
2. spegnere e non lasciare in stand by gli apparecchi elettronici
3. sbrinare frequentemente il frigorifero; tenere la serpentina pulita e distanziata dal muro in modo che possa circolare l’aria
4. mettere il coperchio sulle pentole quando si bolle l’acqua ed evitare sempre che la fiamma sia più ampia del fondo della pentola
5. se si ha troppo caldo abbassare i termosifoni invece di aprire le finestre
6. ridurre gli spifferi degli infissi riempiendoli di materiale che non lascia passare aria
7. utilizzare le tende per creare intercapedini davanti ai vetri, gli infissi, le porte esterne
8. non lasciare tende chiuse davanti ai termosifoni
9. inserire apposite pellicole isolanti e riflettenti tra i muri esterni e i termosifoni
10. utilizzare l’automobile il meno possibile e se necessario condividerla con chi fa lo stesso tragitto.

3. frequently defrost the refrigerator, keep the coil clean and away from the wall so that air can circulate
4. put the lid on pans when water is boiling and avoid the flame is wider than the bottom of the pot
5. if you feel too hot at home, lower the radiators instead of opening the windows
6. reduce drafts of the fixtures filling them with material that air can’t pass through
7. use curtains to create spaces in front of glass, windows, outside doors
8. do not leave curtains closed in front of radiators
9. insert special insulating and reflective films between walls and radiators
10. use the car as little as possible and if necessary share it.
E ricordate che un comportamento eco-sostenibile fa bene non solo al Pianeta, ma anche alle vostre tasche! Sono tutti soldi risparmiati che potrete investire in altro… ad esempio in fashion shopping!!! And remember that a sustainable behavior is good not only for the planet but also for your pocket! They are all saved money that you can invest in other things … For example, in fashion shopping!
